Tax Revolt 09 @ SlideBar - no more Steuern
This was not a concert or a musical event but an event about politics. Taxes to be exact. Their was a Revolt at the Slide Bar in down town Fullerton Saturday March 7th. Thousands of people showed up to express their opinion, a lot of hate for Arnold, no on 1A, a lot of people were mad about the raise of taxes, from sales tax to car registration tax ect. I was impressed to see the turnout and the response from the orange county public.
Whether you believe in this, or not, or are a republican or a democrat, actions speak louder than words, so I encourage you to go to your next political event and show your opinion instead if just talking about it. (anyone can talk).
   Thanks for listening. MC

Artist Vs Poet EP In Stores Everywhere!

Artist Vs Poet EP
In Stores Everywhere!

Today is a monumental day for five driven individuals from Dallas, Texas, also known as Artist Vs. Poet, as their debut, self-titled EP, hits stores everywhere.  The album was recorded this year at The Tree Fort Studios in Los Angeles, CA with renowned producer Mike Green (Paramore, The Higher, Danger Radio).  Buzznet will be streaming the EP, in its entirety, all week and offering a free downlowd of RunawayClick here to listen to Artist Vs Poet.

The EP will include five tracks featuring a fan favorite Runaway, which is a song about escaping it all.  "This song really connects with fans and gets them energized," says Craig Calloway. Another crowd favorite is Assurance Closure, which is "a song about having the right kind of closure, and feeling good about it," according to Craig.

The EP will also feature tracks Lisa Marie, Infallible Remedy, and All In; a special acoustic track, which is dedicated to "persistence and the thought of never giving up," according to vocalist Tarcy Thomason.  "We decided to make this song acoustic because it's a little more personal that way," says Tarcy. "It can be kind of discouraging sometimes when bands first start up.  This song is about just going for what you want really hard and the feelings of finally achieving it."  In this case, that "something" just happened to be their recent successes as a band.

Although Artist Vs Poet is fairly new to the Fearless Records family (Plain White T's, Mayday Parade, The Maine), their music and tour schedules show they are a mature band destined for the stage like the others.  Don't miss them as they come through this month on the Atticus Walk The Plank Tour, with headliners, The Classic Crime, and supporting acts A Change of Pace, and Lower Definition.

Kiddiepunk Records Unleashes International Elegy

Kiddiepunk Records Unleashes International Elegy
Nick Hudson -  The Elegy - New Record Out Now!

 Elegy: noun, plural -gies.

1. a mournful, melancholy, or plaintive poem, esp. a funeral song or a lament for the dead.
2. a poem written in elegiac meter.
3. a sad or mournful musical composition.

After self-releasing 13 albums since 2003, Kiddiepunk Records is proud to announce the first international release by Brighton based UK singer-songwriter Nick Hudson.

The first part of a self-devouring trilogy themed around death, immolation and rebirth, 'The Elegy' verges on the sublime so frequently that it seems Hudson must have made a deal with an omnipotent deity. At once tender, expansive, intimate and beautiful, 'The Elegy' occupies that infinite, indefinable space in between the worlds; a place that words can not define or describe; songs that open up entire, utterly vivid and transcendent 'scapes.

Spare, haunting and delicately forthright, 'The Elegy' weaves together chant, folk-song, Americana, and subtle electronics to create a deeply stirring and evocative work.

"It was written as a manifesto to dissuade myself from suicide...and as a means of invoking some kind of light...distancing myself from the virulent and injurious behavioural patterns I'd documented in earlier songs..." says Hudson.

Very rarely does an artist of this level of substance emerge.  Ingenious, insightful and prolific, Hudson's piano became his constant companion and ruling obsession after being given one as a gift at the age of six. He has recorded 13 records since 2003, each one a haunting work of art (7 of these records are part of a larger project know collectively as 'The Phoenix Diaries').

As well as being a published author, Nick Hudson's music also appears in numerous experimental films by Aspen Michael Taylor, including the upcoming feature-length film 'The People Who Hate Life'.

'The Elegy' is out now, available globally from iTunes and all digital retailers or from the Kiddiepunk Records website (www.kiddiepunkrecords.com), and available in stores (AU & NZ) from 8th November 2008.

The Science Of Sleep (Movie Review) 6/6/2007

The Science Of Sleep (Movie)
Gael Garcia-Charlotte Gainsbourg-Alain Chabat-Miou Miou- A Film By Michel Gondry.
This is a Warner Independent Film.

I was at the film store yesterday looking for something i have not seen before and i came across The Science Of Sleep, but just as you cant judge a book by its cover you cannot judge a movie by its cover as well. The film started out in a dream, a room made of cardboard and TVs. Its about a guy from Mexico that come back home to live with his mom and meets a girl which is his next door neighbor. He has crazy dreams where he doesn't know if he is in a dream or real life. But the cool thing is that the girl he met has the same style of dreams and imagination. The artwork and filming was amazing, if you are into indy films this one is very very good. It will make you want to paint a picture when your done watching it or invent something.

Blue State (Movie Review)

Blue State

"It's a state of mind."

Starring Breckin Meyer, Anna Paquin, Adriana O'Neill, Joyce Krenz, Richard Blackburn, Seun Olangunju, Nicolas Oullette, Grace Lynn Kung, Cory Cassidy, Leigh Enns, Liz Sroka and George W. Bush.
Screenplay by Marshall Lewy.
Directed by Marshall Lewy.
Distributed by 20th Century Fox.  90 minutes.  Rated PG-13.

Its a Story of a HARDCORE Democrate in San Fancisco campainging for John kerry to be president in 2002 when Bush got into the white house and became president. On public TV, Logue (Breckin Meyer) make a promise to move out of the country if bush its elected to president. Sure enough he did and that's where the adventure began for Logue. Its a movie about politics, love, life, and honesty. Weather you are a republican or democrat or don't fallow politics, this is a good movie.

Its a good movie to see when you are looking for something a little bit different in your movie diet. Rent it.

Sigur Ros - Heima (DVD Review)

Before i get into the review of Heima, let me brief you with me finding about Sigur Ros. A little while ago I got this DVD, Heima. I have never heard of SR, so one day when I popped the DVD into the player and just used it as background music while i was doing something. With no expectations or ideas how this band will sound. No more then 5 minutes into the film my eyes did not leave the TV until the video was over. I put in the second DVD and my eyes didn't leave the TV until that one was over as well.

Heima - In 2006 Sigur Ros toured the world returning home to IceLand so play a series of free unannounced shows to make the dvd Heima that means At Home. This DVD was filmed in 16 locations on IceLand, showing the beauty of the island and the people that live there. This is a 97 minute documentary with songs from all four Sigur Ros albums Hljómalind / Starálfur, Heim, Hvarf-Heim, and one new song titled "Heima" along with unreleased material.

This DVD starts out with a live performance and shows us how they are live in concert, extremely creative and interesting way of lighting on the stage. Then playing is a series of places through the island, in houses, outside and venues. I think the places they picked to play makes their music mean even that much more and add more passion to their music. This DVD has some of the best cinematography i've seen, with very unique shots and really shows the beauty of IceLand.

If you have never heard of Sigur Ros let me try and tell you a little about their music. SR is a band from Reykjavík, IceLand and They have a mellow sound but sometimes can pick up and get pretty energetic. The lead Voc Jón Þór Birgisson has a very unique sound to his voice and singing. The bands timing is beyond exceptional, perfect, and is something to look for when watching this DVD. This band is made up of truly talented musicians, in this DVD they all switch around from the piano, to the guitar to the drums, and to me being able to have diversity in your musical talent impressive me.

This band is not for everyone, it is not for the musically bland or the people that only like a band because they do back flips on stage and spit fire balls.

This band is defiantly one of the most amazing bands I've ever heard. GO buy this DVD, check them out, go listen,

Madagascar 2 (Movie Review)

Madagascar 2.

In this movie they do a quick briefing of the first movie to bring you up to speed. Something a lot of other movies should do.
Part 2 was just as good as the first in my opinion, same humor, they got into just as much trouble if not more but in this one the penuens, i think stole the spot light. Funny, sneaky and clever as ever! This movie is great for the kids, and good for the adults with a few inside jokes and i think i caught a few political views or jokes in the movie. When you see it tell me if you agree or dissagree with me.
This movie is deffently worth seeing but not too importent to be seen on the big screen. Renting it is what i would do.
Rate 1-10 (6 1/2)
Some of the previews of up coming movies looked really good. Be Excited and I hope to have some reviews up for thos movies too.
Thanks - Jonny Havoc.

New Music Video (All-American Rejects)

The All-American Rejects have just premiered the video for explosive single “Gives You Hell” on Yahoo! Music. Directed by Marc Webb, the video was described by the band as a neighborly quarrel between two completely opposite households, the square versus the raucous rockers, both of which have front-man Tyson Ritter as the head of the house. The trials and tribulations between the Rockers and the Preps unfold as the video progresses with an unexpected ending.

For more Rejects fun, fans can now put their faces on Tyson, Nick, Chris and Mike at www.allamericanrejects.com/givesyouhell/! When The World Comes Down will be in stores December 16th.

Killola new music video by Resident Band.
Killola, new music video by Resident Band.

Here's a little about the show: Birthmark Entertainment, Inc., a Los Angeles based production company, launches ResidentBand online video series. ResidentBand, which features the same band for numerous back to back episodes, was modeled after nightclubs that have the same band play every week for an extended period of time, thus giving the band a residency. In addition to the original music videos (mostly live performance), tour dates for the resident artists are provided within the videos. ResidentBand will feature only four to six bands a year, thus giving each band the exposure they deserve. The concept is expected to help bands increase their fan base before touring.

The videos can be viewed at www. residentband. tv or www. myspace. com/residentbandtv.

You can also subscribe to the ResidentBand video podcast for free via the iTunes store. ResidentBand is also distributed to the top video sharing sites including YouTube, Yahoo!, Blip. tv, Metacafe, Google, Revver, AOL, Break, Dailymotion, Veoh, Crackle, StupidVideos, and Viddler. Media Contact: Lance Chapman, Birthmark Entertainment, 323-660-2570, lance@birthmark.tv Thanks BigSmile... We really appreciate your support! Cheers, Lance

Putnam Hall fights the format in NYC

Putnam Hall is back from New York City after shooting their first video for the new album "Fight the Format."  The new video is for "It's Over", a mellower, more-brooding track than normal for the punk-infused Orange County band. But, that's what Putnam Hall wanted to do with this video – to break barriers and refute expectations for even their own music.

"It's Over" was shot in multiple locations in New York including Brooklyn, Coney Island and the Lower East Side of Manhattan.  Look for the video to be vibrant and twisted, gorgeous and heartbroken.

Sidenote: singer/guitarist Lillard Anthony trained for the video with Hector Roca, famous for his work with Hilary Swank for her academy award winning role in "Million Dollar Baby."

The H&N Crew updates

The H&N Crew Reflect on Pain Through Their Music.

The H&N Crew (Thanks Samuel Queen IV)
The H&N Crew (Thanks Samuel Queen IV)

Going through trials and tribulations just might be the best inspiration for a writer to draw their anecdotes from. Keith Hutchins, a.k.a. Keilo, Leroy Graudney, a.k.a. Face Mobb, Ronald Saunders, a.k.a. Lil’ Ronnie, and Samuel Queen IV, a.k.a. Don B., unfortunately knows this all too well. Collectively known as The H&N Crew, these East Baltimore MC’s have quickly recognized that there are more important things in life than the flash and glare of celebrity, and they have decided to put those accounts to music. These young men were hit directly by the Dawson Family firebombing tragedy that occurred on Cecil Ave. in 2003. Instead of letting the memory of the family fade in the wind, they decided to give a concert for the affected community that found healing and comfort through their music-if only for the duration of the group’s performance. Since then, H&N have committed to keeping their music profanity-free, and encourage anyone willing to listen to become a positive enforcement in their respective communities. It seems their leadership has paid off, as their newest song, “Tip-Toe”, is currently being requested on 92Q. As they prepare to release a new album in November through Itunes and Amazon.com, H&N looks to continue to empower their city with words of truth, encouragement and hope.
