Weezer is coming back...
After taking a break from things for awhile, Weezer has finally began to come back into the music scene, and things are already starting to look good. Having not released an album since 2005, Weezer has been working on a new album, which is set to release June 17th. All that is left is the mixing, editing, and getting the last minute glitches and shipments covered.
A new song titled "Pork and Beans" is going to be a single released April 22nd. Here is a clip of a short preview. I dont know about you, but Im already in love with the song:

Fearless Records signs Eye Alaksa and will release their debut EP, Yellow & Elephant in Summer 08.
Fearless Records, home of Plain White T's, Sugarcult and Mayday Parade, sign Eye Alaska today. Eye Alaska hailing from Orange, CA consists of vocalist Brandon Wronski, guitarist Cameron Trowbridge, guitarist/pianist Chase Kensrue and bassiest Chris Osegueda.
Signing to an independent record label has been a dream for bandmates Brandon and Cameron since they started playing together at age 13. "We are excited to join the Fearless family. We have been following Fearless Records and their artists for a while. We are excited to be part of a label so close to home," says Cameron.
"We are proud of Yellow & Elephant. We have put a lot of hardwork into this EP and are eager for our fans to listen. We have spent 6-8 hours a day working on tracks that are innovative and musically exciting. Our own local SoCal dance crew, Jabbawockeez were announced as first seasons America's Best Dance Crew. It was a tight squeeze between West Coast and East Coast's Status Quo. All the crew's on this seasons ABDC were amazing and I'm sure have inspired many people to get out of their shell and become who they want to be. The Secret Handshake Cancels Tour
Luis from The Secret Handshake just released a message to all fans that the rest of the tour, until known otherwise, will be canceled. Last week, The Secret Handshake had gotten into what seemed to be a minor accident. Come to find out, The Secret Handshake's van needed to have a new engine installed and would take a week to get their form of transportation back to continue on the tour. We're not sure on when The Secret Handshake will be back on tour but we'll keep you posted on any form of updates.

Beatles Road Manager Dies At 66
Road manager for The Beatles, Neil Aspinall, died on Sunday night in Manhattan at the age of 66. The cause for his death has been concluded as Lung Cancer which Aspinall was undergoing treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Leaving his accounting job to become a big part of the Beatles legacy, Aspinall will now be remembered as one of the reasons why the Beatles are such a huge impact on the music industry.

Freak Accident Involving ABBA Member
Former drummer of ABBA, Ola Brunkert, was found deceased in a pool of blood by one of his neighbors in his garden Sunday morning. According to the authorities, Brunkert fell accidently into a glass door located in the dining room of his home in Mallorca, which slashed his throat. Brunkert apparently attempted to cover up his wound with a towel while making an effort to locate help from his neighbors. The 61-year-old had sustained major cuts to his neck. An autopsy later confirmed that he died accidentally.
Brunkert and his wife, who past away less than a year ago, retired to Arta where he occasionally played with a jazz troupe.

DENDURA JOINS UNEXPECT AND SHADOWSIDE AT THE FLIGHT OF THE VALKYRIES FESTIVAL
Dendura (USA), the Egyptian-inspired, female-fronted progressive band with belly dancers, will join co-headliners Unexpect (Canada) and Shadowside (Brazil) for the second-annual Flight of the Valkyries festival at Station 4 in St. Paul, MN, on Saturday, June 28. Flight of the Valkyries is the only festival in the USA to feature a complete lineup of female-fronted metal bands.
“I am really pumped about the festival,” says Dendura drummer Justin Lee Dixon. “Exposing your sound and style to a whole new group of people is always exciting and, being that all the bands are female fronted, we are all happy to be a part of an event that is bringing together this ever-growing genre of music. But what I anticipate the most is sharing the stage with many talented musicians.”
Belly dancer Abida Blaze, who is known for her exotic, mysterious moves, will join Dendura onstage at the festival.
This year, the festival headliners bring a big dose of metal from Canada and Brazil. Unexpect recently toured with Epica, Echoes of Eternity and Trail of Tears. Shadowside is a rising star in the Brazilian metal scene.
Minnesota-based artists Something to Fear and Aria Sharp have also been announced and additional bands will be confirmed in the coming months.
Flight of the Valkyries is the only music festival of its kind in the USA that is devoted to metal bands with female lead vocalists. The festival showcases all metal sub-genres. The festival debuted in 2007 and showcased a variety of female-fronted metal bands including Doro, Vainglory, Earthen, The Ottoman Empire, Visideon, Spiritual Decay and Sirens of Titan.
Meanwhile, 2008 is already turning into a big year for Dendura. The band recently signed with KillZone Records, scored distribution with Nightmare Records and they’re discussing their next album with a Grammy-winning producer. In addition, they played high-profile concerts including a show with Edguy (who did some 2007 dates in Germany with Aerosmith) and they have a track on the US ProgPower 2007 compilation given to everyone who attended the sold-out, national festival in Atlanta starring After Forever and Sonata Arctica.

The Clinic Closed! (exclusive)
The story is in. Just talked to the guys at The Clinic.
Basically what happened is a neighbor in the area was complaining about the venue and the city came out and wrote them up for a bunch of things that were bogus and things that weren't enough to evict someone. Between the city, Business and business park owner they were forced to close down. They are very sad about this and will be starting up The Clinic sometime late summer.
The Clinic will still be working with bands and music, they will still book some shows at other venues. If you get a chance, send them a message at www.myspace.com/theclinicvenue and show some support and love.
The Clinic is no more until further notice.

Bayside member going solo???
As some of you may have read, Anthony Raneri, leader of popular band Bayside, who released the amazing CD, "The Walking Wounded," will be branching off on a solo tour that has already begun in December. Don't worry! Bayside isn't going to break up! This is what Raneri had to say, "I want to give back to where I came from and give an intimate show for my core fans."
Along with these shows, To Write Love On Her Arms will be joining Raneri for one of the nights for a special performance called "A Night Of Songs, Conversations, & Hope" which includes members of Hawthorne Heights, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Underoath. They will be not only performing but also having conversations with each other and fans.
Once Anthony Raneri's solo tour has ended in the East, he will then return with the rest of the members of Bayside to film a music video for "Carry On," their second video coming off "The Walking Wounded." Right after that, Bayside will begin their headlining tour with Straylight Run, Four Year Strong, Tokyo Rose, and The Status.

MUCC
In August 2006, the members of MUCC (pronounced "mukku") were featured as musical guests at Otakon, the largest Japanese culture convention on the East Coast, playing to two full houses at Rams Head Live in Baltimore. That was their ninth year. Now at a decade together, MUCC has proven itself to be not only prolific, having produced more than ten unique releases to date, but long-lasting--and with throngs of Stateside fans to boot.
D’ESPAIRSRAY
This rock band, D'espairsRay, first crossed international borders in 2004 when Japanese bands were still unknown to foreign land. They started out activities abroad in Europe and debut stateside in 2005 for their very first American headline tour, hitting San Jose, San Francisco, and Dallas. In fall of the same year they played Europe once more and returned to West Coast America, opening for Genitorturers, playing in 8 states. In 2006, they released their first album in Europe and received tremendous response from local fans. They were also among the last few bands to play at the legendry rock club CBGB in New York. In summer, they were invited to participate in the Wacken Open Air metal festival in Germany again garnering vast attention from press and music lovers. The Morning Light signs to Fearless Records
Huntington Beach, CA -- The Morning Light signs to Fearless Records and joins their roster which includes Grammy Nominated Plain White T's, Sugarcult, Rock Kills Kid and Mayday Parade. This five piece band from Pittsburg, PA couldn't be happier. "We are excited to be on Fearless Records and we are ready to start making this band our lifelong career," says Harrison Wargo, voacalist and pianist. "I have wanted to play music for everyone to hear since I started playing drums at age 6."

The Morning Light formed early in 2007 when Harrison Wargo and Bobby Garver began jamming in a local recording studio. Word quickly spread about these guys and shortly they had a full band. The band had not even released an album when they started impressing local promotes and landing shows with All Time Low and Cute Is What We Aim For.

Get Backseat Goodbye on the Radio in San Diego!
December 30th, San Diego's radio station Sophie 103.7 will be playing "Technicolor Eyes" on their Unsigned Sunday show! This marks the official first time BG will be played on a big radio station such as Sophie.

The Shot on VH1
You may have seen the show 'The Shot' on televisions great music channel VH1... Well now it's time for them to pick the next photographers and one of Big Smile's own photographers I Shot Chad is in the running towards being one of the next top photographers. This could also take Big Smile to new heights and help us grow as a magazine.

Alicia Keys top 100 Billdoard's!
Alicia Keys led Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart for a fifth week on Thursday with "No One," a tune that also logged a tenth week atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally. However, the R&B singer is in position to dethrone herself on both charts before long with "Like You'll Never See Me Again." That cut inched up one to No. 2 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and up six to No. 13 on the Hot 100.

Since it's release 2 weeks ago, "WhatsitgonnaB? (I'm So Ready)" has been lauded by clubbers and DJ's around the globe, causing the single to jump 5 spots on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Chart to #44. The single is also receiving international attention, debuting on the U.K’s Music Weekly Upfront Club Play Chart At #38. The track was recently featured in Fox's DVD release of Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer, and a Fantastic Four themed music video for "WhatsitgonnaB? (I'm So Ready)" is set for release in the new year.
This activity surrounding "WhatsitgonnaB?
